How to get leads with a new LinkedIn Catch-up feature [New Growth Hack]

LinkedIn just released a new feature - “Catch-up”. And we found a way for you to generate leads with it, automatically. This is a step-by-step guide on how to do it 👇️

Link

If you’re an active LinkedIn user, you’ve probably noticed tons of notifications in your “My Network” space recently.

This is because LinkedIn has recently launched a new feature - called “Catch up” where you can see your 1st degree connections’ changes such as birthdays, work anniversaries, etc.

LinkedIn did this to help you start more meaningful conversations with your network:

After testing this feature for a few days, I may tell you - it’s a useless thing 😁

But I found 1 use case, that can help you generate leads by leveraging this new “Catch-up” feature!

Reach out to people from your 1st degree network who started hiring for positions in your niche.

If you're

SEO agency -> find companies who are hiring for SEO specialists

Lead gen agency -> find companies who are hiring for SDRs

Dev shop -> find companies who are hiring for Devs

You understand the logic 😎

Here is what we’re going to do:

  1. Open LinkedIn → Catch-up → Filter by “Hiring”

  2. Scrape them all with https://browse.ai

  3. Filter in Google Sheets only relevant people by title they are hiring

  4. Reach out to them automatically on LinkedIn via https://expandi.io/

So let me show you how exactly do this!

NOTE: Leverage this growth hack right now, because probably LinkedIn will change this feature, since there are tons of people who don’t really like this new thing:

LinkedIn Catch Up Growth Hack

The idea of this growth hack is to use “Catch-up” notification as a hook to reach out to your 1st degree connections. All of the types of notifications actually make no sense, except the “Hiring”.

If people are hiring for someone, and you’re the first one who reach out to them about it → it might an amazing icebreaker. So if you’re an SEO agency and you see some people in your network are hiring for SEO specialists, and you’re the first who reaches out to them and offers your services - that might be a game changer.

So what you need to do is to open your LinkedIn, to go “My Network” → choose “Hiring” filter and scroll to the very bottom.

Now we’re going to scrape all of the people who are hiring and segment only relevant people by specialists they are hiring.

Scrape LinkedIn Catch Up

Once you have everyone from your Catch-up list, it’s time to turn on Browse AI.

Btw, it’s a great tool for various types of scraping (especially for this new Growth hack).

Browse AI → https://browse.ai/

Once you install it and turn it on, you’ll see a robot 🤖 face on your screen. Click on it and choose “Capture List”:

Browse AI will ask you about the way of scraping it should use. You need to:

  • check “This website need logging in.”

  • choose “Login with my session cookies.”

Click on “Start training robot”:

Now you need to show Browse AI what it should scrape, so just click on the list of people. Once you do this, just click “Enter”:

Now you need to choose what elements https://browse.ai/ will scrape for you. For this growth hack, you need to choose:

  • Full Name

  • LinkedIn Profile

  • Details of who they are hiring

Name the elements. Once you’re finished, click “Finish recording”:

Browse AI will open you a table with scraped data, now you need to name it and choose “Scroll down to load more items” so Browse AI knows how to scrape all people.

Once you do this, click on “Capture List”:

Browse AI will open a new tab and will start scraping:

In just a matter of seconds https://browse.ai/ will do the magic 🧙

And you will have the list of all people who are hiring and appeared in your “Catch-up”.

Now, just download this list as a CSV and open it as Google Sheets.

Filter right contacts from your LinkedIn Catch Up

Not everyone in this list is a relevant contact for you. You need to find people who are hiring for the specific role. So for this we’re going to filter the whole list by description of the role they are hiring:

For example, let’s image we’re Dev Shop who are selling developers, so we filter this list of “developer” keyword:

or by “engineer”:

Once you do this, you’ll have the list of relevant people!

Of course, check the list before moving to the next step for any errors, etc.

Lead Generation with LinkedIn Catch-Up

Now it’s time to generate leads 💵

To automate the whole process we’re going to use https://expandi.io/ one of the best (and advanced) tools for LinkedIn lead generation. We’ll make a cool & advanced flow for messaging and following-up these people on LinkedIn:

Once you sign up and connect your LinkedIn profile, you need to create a new dynamic placeholder.

This is a piece of text that will be dynamically changed to every single contact in our case we’ll mention they role they are hiring:

Name it, title they are hiring:

Once you do this, you’re ready to create a new campaign. In our case, we’d go with “Builder” campaign - this is the most advanced type of a campaign:

Upload the CSV file you got from previous step and match 2 important fields:

  • LinkedIn profile link

  • Title they are hiring

Now you’re ready to build your campaign flow:

  1. The first step → choose “If connected” condition. And turn this campaign only to those who are you connected with.

  1. Choose “Follow-up” Message.

Here is the message that I recommend you using, where “Title they are hiring” will be changed based on the role they are hiring 🙂

To add it with no mistakes, just choose “Dynamic Placeholder” to insert this variable.

Hey! I saw in a LinkedIn Catch-up (new feature) that you're hiring " {IF EXIST=Title they are hiring}{Title they are hiring}{ELSE}people{ENDIF}"at {company_name}.

Are you considering dev shops? If so, we can discuss cool devs for {company_name}.

Add more steps to warm-up the audience, such as go and automatically like their post and endorse their skills (in this case “development” skill):

Once you set up everything - just turn on the campaign!

Summary
